Wilson EyeCare welcomes G. Shawn Sammons, O.D. to our practice!

A Little History

MY BEST MEMORY OF THE story goes like this: Little 8 year-old Shawn Sammons was back in the office for his annual eye exam having gotten his first pair of glasses a year or so ago. He could hardly contain his excitement to have his glasses prescription updated so that his vision would once again achieve the proverbial 20/20 line. As the completion of our visit came near, Shawn asked, “What’s it like to be an Optometrist?” I gave him my best 3 minute version of ‘what it’s like to be ….’. He leaned forward in his seat and hung on every word I shared with him. Then he leaned back in his chair, crossed his arms and said, “I want to be an Optometrist”. I think my first words in response were, “Cooooool. Twenty years, that sound about right. I’m sure I could really use you around here.”

Well, the next year and every year thereafter, it was the same life plan for Shawn when he would say, “I still want to be an Optometrist.”

Welcome Dr. Sammons

Fast forward nearly 20 years later… G. Shawn Sammons, O.D. has just received his degree from Indiana School of Optometry and he’s headed home. Home to his family, friends and the practice where he first revealed a dream that hard work and perseverance would reward.I am so very proud to announce the long anticipated arrival of Dr. Shawn Sammons, Optometric Physician.
